The problem of police brutality, brought to the fore by the Rodney King beating, was long decried by ethic communities in American cities. An organized movement first materialized in Philadelphia and this poster represents one of the first efforts to publicize it.
Note: Mumia Abu Jamal, the celebrated death row inmate, convicted of shooting a Philadelphia police officer during this period, was a journalist reporting on police abuse at the time of his arrest.
