Stand By Wilson - The Man on the Job
Code  3054 Size  7/8 in. Grade  Choice/XF Price  $68.95
Pinback button promoting Woodrow Wilson for president, 1916. The Whitehead & Hoag Co., Newark, New Jersey.

President Wilson had an uphill battle seeking reelection in 1916, with the opposition united behind the brilliant Supreme Court jurist and former Republican governor of New York Charles Evans Hughes. Wilson's handlers stressed his experience and ability to keep America out of the worsening conflict in Europe, and an apprehensive electorate handed him a narrow victory in November. Despite Wilson's dovish stance during the campaign, he would deliver a war message to Congress shortly after his inauguration, and the nation would sacrifice many of her sons in the trenches.

We offer an original celluloid pinback featuring a portrait of the incumbent in profile.
