Brochure promoting Richard Nixon for president, 1972. Republican National Committee, Bob Dole, Chairman.
With the passage of the 26th Amendment in 1970, the voting age was lowered to 18 years, an initiative supported by President Nixon. The Vietnam War, however, had turned much of the nation's youth against the administration, and Nixon's 1972 Democratic challenger George McGovern capitalized on thier disaffection. This brochure was distributed on college campuses in an effort counteract the trend. It addresses such issues of importance to youth as the war, the draft, drugs and the environment.
