Medalet promoting Andrew Jackson for president, 1824. Brass. DeWitt 1824-4.
Obv. Military bust of Jackson facing left, enclosed by inscription in semicircle above, GENL ANDREW JACKSON. Rev. Inscription, THE NATION'S GOOD, enclosed in oak and olive wreath.
Jackson won the popular vote but lost to John Quincy Adams when the election was thrown to the House of Representatives. He would return to win decisively in 1828. One of the first true campaign items produced in America. We offer a choice specimen.
