Democratic Wild Cat Money.
Code  10404 Size  9.5 x 3.5 in. Grade  Choice/XF Price  $85.00
Satirical currency opposing Grover Cleveland for president, 1892.

Five-dollar note issued at "Bungtown, N.J., Oct. 21st, 1892." Features portrait of Cleveland and illustration of wildcat. "The Cleveland Bank Promisies, whenever it D--n well pleases, to pay to Bearer Five Dollars in Money, coon skins or cord wood at the option of the bank."

This ususual piece of satirical currency (or funny money) was issued during the campaign of 1892, when Cleveland ran against and defeated Benjamin Harrison, becoming the only president to serve two non-consecutive terms. Ironically, Cleveland is pictured on the $1000 Federal Reserve note.
