Pinback button celebrating the aeronautical circumnavigation of the world by aviator and eccentric millionaire Howard Hughes, c. 1938.
In the summer of 1938, Hughes set an around-the-world record of 3 days, 19 hours and 17 minutes (in the process he cut Charles Lindbergh's New York-to-Paris record in half). Upon his return, he was given a ticker tape parade down Broadway in New York City.
This button was sold as a souvenir of the event.
