"Go It Tip - Come It Tyler"
Code  1898 Size  26 mm Grade  Choice/XF Price  $59.95
Medalet promoting William Henry Harrison for president and John Tyler for vice president, 1840. Brass. DeWitt 1840-28. Holed for suspension.

Obv. Military bust of Harrison to left, the date 1841 with three stars either side below; 20 stars and the inscription, MAJ. GEN. W.H. HARRISON, enclosing all. Rev. Displayed eagle bearing United States shield on breast, a streamer in its beak inscribed, GO IT TIP; below, a streamer inscribed, COME IT TYLER.

"Tip" is the shortened form of Harrison's nickname "Tippecanoe," a reference to the famous battle in which Harrison defeated a confederation of Indian tribes led by Tecumseh. Tyler became president when Harrison died of pneumonia less than a month after taking office.

We offer a choice specimen of this uncommon early campaign medalet.
