Photograph, Mr. F.E. Scofield and twin brother, Central Park, Whittier, California, June, 1918. Gelatin silver print mounted on heavy card. Typewritten ID verso.
The two brothers, dressed and posed exactly alike, face each other to either side of a portrait of President Woodrow Wilson mounted on an easle above the legend, OUR PRESIDENT. One of the brothers (ostensibily F.E.) points to the portrait.
Dating to the year following America's entry into World War I, this must have been staged as a show of patriotism and support for the government in the conflict. Most unusual!
