Tobacco pipe promoting Benjamin Harrison for president, 1888. Meerschaum (white clay).
Relief portrait of Harrison on one side of bowl, an American eagle above arm of labor, opposite. Stem bears the legend, PROTECTION FOR/ AMERICAN LABOR.
One of the finest 19th century campaign pipes we have offered, this example is in remarkable condition, with only light surface wear (doesn't appear to have ever been smoked). Very few of these could have survived.
