Caricatures of Theodore Roosevelt drawn by a student, with notes of instructor, 1911. Pen and ink. The artist signs "W.F. Fancher" and dates the work, which evidently was submitted to a teacher of caricature art. Depicts Roosevelt in Rough Rider attire, his initials emblazoned on the up-turned brim of his hat. He wields a big stick, which in a smaller study, he is shown cracking over the head of a financier. The teacher adds a third study, to demonstrate how the student's technique can be improved (we don't know who the teacher was, but probably a noted political cartoonist of the period). One-of-a-kind piece of Rooseveltiana!
