Founded in New York City in 1967 by six Vietnam veterans, VVAW was organized to give voice to a growing number of soldiers opposed to American involvement in the ongoing Vietnamese civil war. By 1970, VVAW claimed over 40,000 members, turning out hundreds of veterans at anti-war demonstrations across the country. This button features the organization's official shield emblem.
