Ribbon promoting John F. Kennedy for vice president, 1956. Printed satin, with safety pin for attaching to lapel.
The young Massachuetts senator was seen as a rising star in the party, and was high on Adlai Stevenson's list of potential running mates. Kennedy already had his sights set on 1960, however, and wisely declined the second spot on a losing ticket. His supporters at the 1956 DNC circulated this ribbon among delegates.
