Facsimile currency advocating payment of government bonds in paper money, equal taxation, and the remonitization of the silver dollar, c. 1870. Issued by the Cincinnati Enquirer. Made to resemble a U.S. $5 note, or greenback. Pictures Thomas Hendricks. Verso gives a detailed argument for greenback, which claims they allowed the government to "maintain, feed and clothe large armies of soldiers and successfully prosecute a four years war" and that they will give the country prosperity in the future. Scarce.
