Print, a portrait of First Lady Mary Todd Lincoln, c. 1861. Housed in a period walnut veneer frame. Light foxing, and some wear to the frame. Size refers to overall dimensions.Period likenesses of Mary Lincoln are quite scarce (she was notoriously shy of the camera, and never approved the use of her image), and larger formats are next to impossible to find. This is the first example of this print we've come across. We suspect it was trimmed to fit the frame, thus there are no other markings apart from the boldface title, but it looks like the work of Currier & Ives, and was likely issued around the time of Lincoln's first inauguration.
