Ribbon, a souvenir of the 50th anniversary of the Lincoln-Douglas debate at Galesburg, Illinois, Oct. 7, 1908. Printed silk.Features portraits of Lincoln and Douglas as they appeared during the 1858 senate race that saw Douglas victorious, but brought the obscure Springfield attorney to national prominence. Many who witnessed the debate could have lived to attend this event. We have not encountered any other anniversary items apart from this ribbon, and this is the first example of it we've seen.
