Pricing and Discounts

Legacy Americana, in determining prices, tries to be competitive and fair. Our prices are based on a number of factors, among them anticipated demand, perceived scarcity, prices of comparable items, costs anticipated, labor associated with handling, and the monetary return desired by the consignor. While we strive to offer our merchandise at the lowest possible prices, it is not our policy to aggressively raise or lower prices in response to competition. Volatile market forces notwithstanding, our prices should remain relatively stable, with a tendency to increase gradually over time, as supplies naturally diminish and demand generally increases.

Legacy Americana employs a two-tiered pricing structure, based on a division of the inventory into General Catalog and featured merchandise. Items available in quantities greater than five, or items we routinely carry, are marketed in our General Catalog (product numbers 1000-9999); prices start at $0.95. Items that are unique or available in quantities fewer than five are featured merchandise, and are marketed in auctions, special catalogs, or featured in our online store (product numbers 10000 and above); prices start at $10.00.

Our determination whether an item qualifies as general stock or featured merchandise, while not arbitrary, is subject to change. For example, items that enter inventory as featured merchandise may later be added to the General Catalog if they become available in a larger quantity. Likewise, items offered in the General Catalog may sell out and later re-enter inventory as featured merchandise. The customer should draw no conclusions as to the relative scarcity or abundance of items based on whether they are offered as general catalog or featured merchandise.

It is the policy of Legacy Americana to entertain offers only in the context of an auction; listed prices should be considered firm and nonnegotiable. Unsold auction lots and property that has failed to sell at the listed price within 90 days may be removed and returned to the consignor, re-listed at a reduced price, or otherwise disposed of. Excluding property to be sold at auction, price quotes are available for most items upon request. Unless otherwise provided, all price quotes expire after 24 hours.
Discounts may apply to purchases based on sales promotions, volume, or other special considerations.
Promotional discounts can be in the form a rebate, fee waiver, or percentage discount, and apply to purchases made during a specified period, from a special sale category or publication, or over a specified amount. The customer may be required to enter a special code to receive a promotional discount.

Volume discounts apply to select General Catalog items when purchased in quantities of 10 or more, subject to availability. Items eligible for volume discounts will have a star after the price; when you enter a quantity of 10 or more, the appropriate discount will be applied instantly. The amount of the discount is based on the quantity ordered, viz.:

10 or more 25% off (adjusted) list
25 or more 50% off (adjusted) list
100 or more 75% off (adjusted) list

Some items are ineligible for volume discounts, regardless of quantity stocked, and some discounted prices are established based on other criteria. Our policy is to sell General Catalog items at the lowest possible price when purchased in volume, but we are not a wholesaler.

Legacy Americana does not offer standard discounts based on invoice totals; i.e. we do not discount for purchases over a certain dollar amount except as an advertised promotion.
