Medal celebrating the inauguration of President George W. Bush, 2001. Bronze. Issued by the Medalcraft Mint under the auspices of the Inaugural Committee, Washington. Comes in a presentation box with documentation and walnut display stand.
Obv. Bust of Bust to front; around, GEORGE W. BUSH. Rev. Inscription around, FORTY-THIRD PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA - INAUGURATED JANUARY 20, 2001, enclosing Great Seal of the United States.
The official inaugural medal.
Preparations for the 2001 presidential inauguration had to be put on hold until the Florida election scandal was resolved. When the results were official and Bush was declared the winner, the Committee rushed this medal into production, using a portrait of the new president by Texas-born sculptor Clarles L. Vickers. They have now all but disappeared from the marketplace. We have a few remaining from the original lot we acquired in 2001 from noted presidential numismatist H. Joseph Levine (who wrote the explanatory essay enclosed with the medal), and offer them at the issue price.
