Pinback button promoting Franklin Roosevelt for president, 1936. Litho. Bastian Bros. Co., Rochester, New York.
Even before the supreme test of leadership that would come later in his long presidency, Franklin Roosevelt was seen as a chief executive with certain heroic qualities. Few presidents, without hyperbole, could be described as gallant leaders. But in the case of FDR, the epithet seemed to fit.
This pinback was issued for Roosevelt's first reelection campaign in 1936.
