Poster promoting Franklin Roosevelt for president, 1936. Sweeney Litho Co., Belleville, New Jersey.
Even before the supreme test of leadership that would come later in his long presidency, Franklin Roosevelt was seen as a chief executive with certain heroic qualities. Few presidents, without hyperbole, could be described as gallant leaders. But in the case of FDR, the epithet seemed to fit.
This poster, issued for Roosevelt's reelection campaign in 1936, came in two sizes. This is the smaller version, meant for display in the front window of a home.
