Bust of Abraham Lincoln, c. 1863. Parian porcelain. Two-piece construction; bust is attached to pedestal with metal bolt. Unmarked, but presidential date. Some light handling marks, a 1/8" chip in left shoulder at truncation, and a 1/4" chip at base of bust where it attaches to pedestal (neither visible from front). Displays excellent.

Parian ware is a type of biscuit porcelain made to resemble the white Parian marble of antiquity, first produced by Mintons of Staffordshire and later copied by several firms during the late 19th century. An unusual contemplative pose of Lincoln, dating to his presidency.
