Patriotic mat decorated with American flags, drums and cannon, bearing legend, CONSTITUTION AND UNION. Gutta percha case with velvet pad opposite photo features an eagle perched on scroll bearing the legend, CONSTITUTION AND LAWS, framed by flags, a shield and scrollwork (design repeated front and back). The portrait is clear and sharp, completely without blemish and retaining a glossy finish. The case is without blemish save for very minor wear at edges.
Issued at the time of Lincoln's reelection campaign for Unionists and supporters. Hard to improve on as a display piece!
