Badge promoting Benjamin Harrison for president, 1888. Brass shell with inset photograph. Variant of DeWitt BH 1888-29.
Clasp in the form of an eagle perched on crossed cannon, from which is suspended by a red, white and blue ribbon, a large five-pointed star, with trefoil at each point, on which is mounted a photograph of Harrison.
Based on the official badge of the Grand Army of the Republic, the national organization of Civil War veterans, this would have been worn by a Boy in Blue in support of a former comrade. Top notch example.
