When FDR ran for a third term, the opposition had a field day, issuing countless buttons with a myriad of anti third term slogans. The campaign of Republican Wendell Willkie took it up in the manner of a crusade, hoping to receive the support not only of Republicans but Democrats who felt it was time for Roosevelt to step down. The Roosevelt campaign remained largely aloof, knowing that the party faithful would come out in support of the president. As a result, relatively few pro-FDR slogan buttons appeared. Here is one of the more clever ones.
