The radical arm of the anti-war movement found common cause with the Black Power movement. It was argued that the war in Indochina was itself a manifestation of the same forces of oppression that African Americans had encountered in America from the time of slavery, and most leaders of the Black Power movement were outspoken in their opposition, in particular to the sending of black soldiers to fight it.
