Poster promoting James Cox for president and Franklin Roosevelt for vice president, 1920. Postergraph Company, Cleveland, Ohio. Portraits copyright Baker Art Gallery, Columbus. Light age toning, scattered wrinkles, and four tears extending from upper edge, the longest about 7" reaching into the background of the Cox portrait, all neatly repaired with archival tape verso. Ex. Gary L. Cohen collection.
The largest and least common of the half dozen or so jugate posters known for this ticket, with a survival rate comparable to jugate pinbacks but a fraction of the price. A small number surfaced about a decade ago and were quickly absorbed into collections. All had some defects. The last one to come on the market was dry-mounted, and brought about $1200 (Hake Auction #232, Lot 217). An exceptional 20th century political poster.
