Our May Gallery update features material from the Roosevelt Era, starting with Teddy at the dawn of the 20th century, through his cousin Franklin's presidency, which ended in 1945. No other single family has had such a profound impact on American politics, and it would be hard to imagine our world today without the enduring legacy of these two leaders. The presidency as we know it, and the federal bureaucracy we take for granted, owes its existence to the Roosevelts.
The men who challenged them and their policies, both from the right and the left, with mixed success, are in many ways just as interesting, and inspired a wealth of memorabilia. The first half of the 20th century, we would argue, is unrivaled for its richness from a collecting standpoint. Compared with the first quarter of our century...well there's no comparison!
