Perhaps no one was as disappointed in 1940 as John Nance Garner. Having stood next-in-line for eight years, the irascible VP expected a green light for his own presidential ambitions. When FDR decided to run for an unprecedented third term, Garner led a palace revolt. A Texas-based Garner-for-President movement produced some spirited acrimony at the convention, as well as a handful of pinbacks, including this one.
