Poster, an official autographed souvenir of the Swearing-In Ceremony of President Gerald R. Ford, August 9, 1974. Printed on heavy rag paper with gold-embossed presidential eagle top left and color portrait of Ford bottom right. Marked "Presentation copy" bottom left. Contains the text of the presidential oath of office ("so help me God" added), and Ford's remarks following the ceremony, which includes the famous passage, "Our long national nightmare is over." Issued immediately after Ford assumed office upon the resignation of Richard Nixon, and given to members of Congress and officials in his administration. The signature is genuine and not facsimile or secretarial.
Historically important artifact of one of the pivotal moments in our national history—the installation of the only unelected American president—and the ultimate Ford item!
