Engraved portrait of Henry Clay seated at his Ashland farm, c. 1844. H.S. Sadd, New York, from a painting (1843) by J.W. Dodge. Clay is shown in a bucolic setting, a dog at his feet, cattle watering in the background and a man plowing a field in the distance. Facsimile signature and vignette of residence, below. "Entered according to act" statement by Dodge along bottom edge. A few tears at edges, not extending into graphics, and light age toning.
