OBV: Togated bust of Clay to right, C.W.W. (engraver) at truncation. REV: Inscription, BORN APRIL 12. 1777/ ENTERED CONGRESS 1806/ ELECTED SPEAKER 1811/ TREATY OF GHENT 1814/ SEC. OF STATE 1825, all enclosed in oak wreath.

Very rare and desirable early issue for Clay, and one of the best examples to come on the market. Edges out the certified MS61 example in the Frent collection, which sold for $2,250 in 2017 (Heritage Auctions, The David and Janice Frent Collection of Presidential & Political Americana #6181, Lot 43044). Bright and lustrous, showing only minimal wear. A great investment level medal for the advanced collector.
