Badge promoting William McKinley for president and Garret Hobart for vice president, 1896. Gilt brass with painted detailing and inset photographs. Formed in the shape of a waving American flag, the stripes and field painted, hinged at the staff, with spring mechanism verso, which when released reveals photographic portraits of McKinley and Hobart set in beaded frames, accented with oak sprigs. A truncated hand holds the staff. Original clasp.
Superior example of this classic mechanical badge for the victorious Republican ticket.
