Pinback button promoting William McKinley for president and Theodore Roosevelt for vice president, 1900. A. Phelps, Newark, New Jersey.
Truly one of the classics of Golden Era political buttons, featuring portraits of the candidates in flag-draped ovals surmounted by eagle, with a TR shown again below, galloping on horseback with raised saber. This is the larger and less common variety. Attributed to Baltimore Badge, most have that company's back paper, but this one carries a Phelps back paper. Glossy, mint example.
