Badge worn by a delegate at the Republican National Convention, Philadelphia, 1900. Three-piece construction; copper decorative hanger with Philadelphia state house, Liberty Bell, and streamer inscribed, E PLURIBUS UNUM; red, white and blue silk ribbon with copper slide inscribed, PHILADELPHIA, from which is suspended a copper medal bearing (obv.) jugata busts of Lincoln, Grant and McKinley facing left and (rev.) the legend, PHILADELPHIA/ NATIONAL REPUBLICAN CONVENTION/ JUNE 19TH 1900, enclosed by names of each Republican presidential nominee.
Easily one of the most well made and appealing delegate badges, we can't recall ever seeing a better example. This convention nominated William McKinley for president.
