Pinback button promoting Alton Parker for president and Henry Davis for vice president, 1904. The Whitehead & Hoag Co., Newark, New Jersey.
At the 1904 Democratic nominating convention, New York Appeals Court justice Alton B. Parker received the nomination for president on the first ballot. Henry Davis, an 81-year-old West Virginia millionaire, was tapped for VP in the hopes that he would make a large donation to the campaign (he did not). They were defeated decisively in November by Republicans Roosevelt and Fairbanks.
We offer an attractive chromolithograph pinback featuring portraits of the disappointed Democrats.
