Print promoting Franklin Pierce for president and William R. King for vice president, 1852. Hand-colored lithograph, by N. Currier, New York. Housed in original walnut veneer frame, refitted with archival backing and conservation glass. Size refers to overall dimensions.

Titled, "GRAND, NATIONAL, DEMOCRATIC BANNER." Portraits of the candidates in conjoined wreaths, their names below, against striped field, the legend, THE UNION NOW AND FOREVER, below. Above, portrait of Washington in circular frame ringed by stars, one for each state in the Union, a displayed eagle above, scroll in beak inscribed, THE UNION MUST AND SHALL BE PRESERVED; the legend, IN UNION IS STRENGTH, in sky above. The whole made to resemble a banner.

One of the most difficult National Banners to obtain, this is a bright, clean example. A desirable and rare antebellum political poster, representing a ticket for which scant material exists.
