Pinback button promoting Ronald Reagan for governor of California, 1966.
When Hollywood actor Ronald Reagan made an unprecedented bid for the California governor's office, defeating the incumbent, Gov. Edmund G. Brown (who himself had beaten Richard Nixon four years earlier, and whose son later served as governor), it was the start of one of the most successful political careers in modern American history, culminating in a two-term presidency 14 years later.
No collection of Reagan memorabilia is complete without this picture button from Reagan's historic 1966 gubernatorial campaign.
