Although they did not have a Republican president to rally around, the Grand Old Party was solidly behind the Democratic-led war effort. This colorful pinback was circulated in Pennsylvania during the 1918 midterm elections, which saw Republicans retake both houses of Congress. The elections were a setback for Wilson and the Democrats, and foreshadowed the Republican wave of 1920.
