A Civil War hero who rose through the ranks from cadet to hold every command position in the U.S. Navy, Robley Evans was chosen by President Theodore Roosevelt to lead the Atlantic Fleet (best remembered as the "Great White Fleet") during its world tour in 1907. This lapel pin was likely worn by a greeter on that tour.
