Pinback button promoting Woodrow Wilson for president and a federal eight-hour workday, 1912.

A key demand of organized labor was a limit on the number of hours employers could demand their workers remained on the job. Gov. Wilson of New Jersey, though not a champion of labor, voiced support for the eight-hour day, and as president he signed the first federal law regulating the hours of workers in private companies (Adamson Act, 1916).

This pinback was worn by a labor activist who supported Wilson in 1912.
